F ‘in $avings on Travel! (1 of 5)

“You don’t have to be rich to travel well. ” – Eugene Fodor

The most frequent question I get asked…how do I afford all of my trips? People have the misconception you need to be wealthy to travel. That is not the case, but it might take a little more effort and some great travel advice from IslanDish. 🙂

I’m talking about the F ‘in Savings, people!! Anybody who is traveling on a modest budget, who wants to save money, or who wants the to make the most of their trip should be familiar with my three F’s.

FLEXIBILITY – dates/times, destinations, modes of travel, legwork

FLIGHTS – airlines, airports, booking methods, travel style

FOOD – kitchens, self-catering, carry-ons, local eats

I will explore these F’s individually and in-depth in upcoming segments of this series. Within each category, there are a number of factors to consider that will help you maximize your money and your vacation. You will want to thank me for showing you the F ‘in $avings on Travel! Stay tuned…

The Islandish Way

“Not all those who wander are lost.” – J.R.R. Tolkien

Thank you for liking my islanDish page! My heart belongs in the islands and my passion is to experience them all.  I love to explore the beaches, history, landmarks, communities, activities, foods, culture and customs…the unique flavor and vibe that make each island so special!

My travel portfolio currently consists of 28 islands with the perspective of three generations – baby boomer, millennial, and today’s youth. I specialize in traveling on a modest budget with set parameters ($500/pp for travel, $175/night for lodging) in self-catering accommodations, whether at a resort or private property. I also have experience with all-inclusive vacations, though they are not my preferred way to travel.

My @islanDish travel page is an outlet for my passion, a way to share my knowledge and participate in the social conversation about all “islandish” things. Hope you enjoy my posts and my shares…and my love for the islands!!
